In 2009 Brathay Exploration Group, working jointly with The Field Studies Council and Norwegian Glacier Museum and Ultveit-Moe Climate Centre, mounted a reconnaissance expedition of Tunsbergdalsbreen, the largest valley outlet glacier of the Jostedal icecap in southern Norway.
In 2010 and 2011 we are offering the opportunity to take part in the Tunsbergdalsbreen Project, a significant long term scientific based expedition that will use the melt rate of a large mass of glacier ice in a temperate climate zone to indicate the rate of global warming.
During the expedition you will journey on a glacier exploring this beautiful uninhabited landscape and discover the joys of living in a remote wilderness. You will gain essential mountaineering skills, experience Norwegian hospitality, develop personal and social skills of working in a team and be part of this important project to monitor climate change.
