offers an excellent base from which to explore the area.

Accommodation
The accommodation building was built new in 2000.
Facilities include: Full central heating , Alarm & Fire safety equipment , Double glazing.
First Floor:
Dormitory rooms; 5 - sleep 4 people each, 2 - sleep 2 people each.
Each dormitory has bunk beds with mattresses but visiting parties should provide their own bed linen or sleeping bags and pillows.
A further room for additional (maximum 6) persons sleeping on mattresses is available.
Ground floor:
Large common room on the ground floor together with an additional room on the first floor provide excellent meeting/work spaces for groups.
Ladies and gents washrooms, toilets and showers.
Facilities for the disabled.
A fully equipped drying room.
The kitchen and dining area.
The kitchen/common room block is a recent construction with the following facilities:
- Large gas oven + rings. * High capacity room heaters.
- Microwave oven and Electric Kettles
- Gas water heater. * Tables, benches and seating area.
- Two Fridge /Freezers * Complete range of cutlery, plates, pans etc.
- Purpose built Barbecue nearby.
Limitations on the Brathay Estate.
The Brathay Exploration Group is not part of the Brathay Hall Trust, and occupies and uses the Field Quarters under a lease. In order to maintain the Group's good relationship with Brathay Hall and the owners of the Brathay Estate, you are asked to observe the following rules, non-compliance may result in you being asked to leave the site.
- Visiting parties have NO access to any facilities on the Brathay estate, other than those at the Field Quarters.
- The only access to and from the Field Quarters is by the road through the Brathay Estate. In particular there is NO access to the lake.
- All groups whilst on the Brathay estate must be accompanied by the person named on the booking form as being responsible for the group.
- No more than eight vehicles may be parked at the Field Quarters, in the location shown on the map. Vehicles may not be parked anywhere else on the Brathay estate.
- Camping is not permitted.
Hire Charges
Hire Fees
Deposit A refundable deposit of £100.00 is required.
The
deposit must be paid at the time of booking, it is additional to the hire
charges below. It will be retained if the booking is cancelled, but refunded
if the booking is not accepted. The deposit will be refunded at the end
of the hire period following a satisfactory inspection by a representative
of the Brathay Exploration Group to determine whether there has been any
damage to the facilities, and that they have been left clean and tidy as detailed in the instructions. The deposit will be retained
to cover the cost of repairs required or extra cleaning if necessary.
Hire Charge Valid for bookings to 31/12/07
Sun/Thursday incl.
£245 incl VAT per night
plus £7 (incl.VAT) per additional person per night for
bookings of over 24 people (up to a maximum group size of 30).
Weekend only bookings
- Friday and Saturday (2 nights)
£575 incl VAT
plus £18.00 incl.VAT per additional person for bookings of over
24 people (up to a maximum group size of 30).
The weekend rate does not apply if the booking is for 5 or more nights.
New Years Eve Booking Please add £150
Please note that in all cases the refundable deposit of £100 must be paid at the time of application.
Bookings are for the sole use of the facilities and include a refundable deposit which must be included with the booking form, plus a charge per night fee. Gas and electricity is included in the charge as is group associate membership of the Brathay Exploration organisation.
The full hire charge is due four weeks before the date of arrival.

Booking System
On receipt of your full booking fee, joining instructions including access details, will be sent to you. The Field Quarters site remains open throughout the year.
We rely on each group using the Field Quarters to leave them clean and tidy, ready for the next users. Guidelines for disposal of rubbish, and cleaning are displayed in the Kitchen. Mops etc. are located in the drying room (off the Common Room).
Visiting parties should bring their own food and other consumables ie. tea towels.
