Shackleton Lodge is our residential facility that offers self-catering accommodation to organised youth and outdoor recreation groups/organisations, schools and universities etc.  Be right where it matters in the heart of the Lake District!  Accommodating up to 30 people in this recently built lodge, it is situated in a superb woodland setting. There is a separate kitchen and dining block which also has a purpose-built BBQ nearby.

Located on the northern shore of Windermere, the combination of sweeping farmland, lake views, a backdrop of mountains and a comfortable, friendly environment ensure the best conditions for a memorable experience. The Lake District National Park is famous for its stunning scenery, superb hill-walking, climbing and mountain biking, as well as its wildlife and cultural heritage.

 

Main block

Recently refurbished and carpeted, the main accommodation block features:

  • 5 rooms with 4 bunk beds, 2 rooms with 2 bunk beds, for  a total of 24 guests*
  • additional 6 mattresses for use in upstairs meeting room*
  • segregated washing facilities and toilets
  • specially designed facilities for disabled users
  • fully equipped drying room
  • large meeting room downstairs (27.5' x 22.5')
  • small meeting room upstairs (21.5' x 11')
  • central heating
  • double glazing
  • fire alarm and safety equipment

*bedding is not provided so you will need to bring sleeping bags and pillows

Dining Room/Kitchen (or meeting room)

This separate building can be used as another meeting room and comes with the following facilities:

  • large gas oven and rings
  • central heating
  • gas water heater
  • large fridge
  • small fridge/freezer
  • kettles & microwave
  • tables & chairs
  • cutlery, crockery & pans
Local Services

The nearest shops (Co-op and Spar) are in Ambleside and there is a good supermarket (Booths) near the railway station in Windermere. The local tourist information centre (015394 32582) can provide further information including train and bus times.
