Post exped report!
Another beautiful part of the world... Gillian recounts their trip to Scotland.
When: May 7th – 14th 2011
Where: Ullapool and beyond.... Scotland.
What happened...
The Cape Wrath Trail winds its way from Fort William to Cape Wrath by routes of the walkers’ choosing. In 2009 we made our way through Torridon up towards Ullapool but this year we started at Ullapool, headed towards Oykel Bridge, then walked through the Ben More massif towards Abhainn Loch Bhig, visiting Britain's highest waterfall (According to wikipedia it's 3x height of Niagara when in full flow!). We spent time taking in the remote Munros of Ben More Assynt and Conival before walking out to Kylesku.
With 4 members, 3 dogs and 7 backpacks (yep, the dogs carried their load too!), we completed the 55 miles in 6 days. We were lucky with good weather for 5 days out of 6 and amongst the amazing views our trip also encompassed birthday candles in Inchnadampth, 2 bothies, 5 campsites and a well-earned celebratory fish supper in Ullapool!
