What's happening...
Brathay Exploration Group Club are again running a Scottish Winter Meet. This will take place during half term (February 11-18 2012) in the Cairngorms. We have hired chalet accommodation just outside Aviemore (www.mondhuie.com) - members are welcome to come for all or part of the week at a cost of £12-£15 pppn self catering (there will likely be a food kitty).
There are a wealth of winter activities in the Cairngorms from gentle walking to ice climbing and winter mountaineering. There are also two local downhill ski resorts and opportunities for cross country skiing and ski mountaineering. We will have use of instructors for those who wish to learn basic winter skills or progress onto winter scrambling. There is also the intention of small groups to explore the more rugged western mountains on day trips. As well as traditional socialising in the evenings there will also be the chance to attend Glenmore Lodge (National Mountain Centre) for lectures on winter skills, avalanche awareness and other topics.
This is a popular meet so please secure your place by sending an e-mail to the office including the days you wish to attend, whether you would like instruction and on what, and post a £50 deposit. Please note your place will not be secured untill a deposit has been received.
