About

Brathay Exploration ClubWhat is Brathay Exploration Club?

Brathay Exploration Club was founded in 2009 by members of the Brathay Exploration Group Trust. We aim to provide activities for our members to help develop their mountain and leadership skills, meet likeminded people and take part without the time commitment of long expeditions.

Club Committee

Brathay Exploration Group, both Trust and Club, rely wholly on the voluntary work of committed team leaders.  We are very fortunate to be supported and led by such a giving and dynamic group.  Find out more about them below, or sign-in to meet them in our members-only community site.

Anna Griffith

Anna has always loved the outdoors: family holidays climbing mountains in Snowdonia, Dartmoor letterboxing, D of E, Ten Tors, climbing at university then her first expedition with BEG to a wild and remote part of Iceland in 1994.  This trip encouraged her love of cold places and an interest in leading expeditions for young people.  She has since been on, or led, expeditions to the Alps, Scotland, Iceland, Norway, Alaska and Greenland.

Anna's other outdoor interests include sea kayaking, canoeing, winter mountaineering, scrambling and easy mountain biking.  Anna works as a field ecologist - this takes her all over Scotland from monitoring rare plants in the northwest highlands to running courses on lichens in ancient woodlands and looking for deer dung on the vast bogs of Caithness!
