In late July, nine hardy BEG members enjoyed a recce expedition to Foula. We spent 5 days in Foula enjoying the stunning birdlife, coastal scenery, island music and great company. There was plenty brainstorming and research into future expedition projects which should pave the way for an exciting 2012 expedition.

Recce Basic Itinerary:

• Sunday 24th July - Lerwick ferry from Aberdeen (5pm)
• Monday 25th July - Arrive Lerwick, taxi to Tingwall, 10am flight to Foula
• 25th-29th July - stay with Fran D-S, familiarise area, meet islanders, discuss future work, maybe do a bit of fieldwork if time
• Friday 29th July - fly off island on morning flight. Possible visits to Lerwick Biological records centre, Museum and maybe SNH office. Catch Aberdeen ferry (sails 5.30 in evening)
• Saturday 30th July - Arrive back Aberdeen
